LEEDS UNITED IN A FINAL.

Win Over Bradford City at Elland Road.

To MEET "TOWN"

Defeating Bradford City by 5 goals to 3 in the West Riding Senior Cup semi-final at Elland Road, last night, Leeds United qualified to meet Huddersfield Town at Valley Parade, in the final, on Saturday, May 9. It was a game in which a strong wind proved a decisive factor, for while the visitors put on three goals by its aid in the first half to one by the home team, Gill, Bucknell and Barkas had a worrying time in defending the Elland Road goal on the crossover, when the home side scored on four occasions. No one did better for the winners than Edwards, who showed wonderful ball control, despite the elements and he had hard-working colleagues in Danskin (who made a promising debut for the seniors vice the injured Hart at centre-half), and Copping, the latter being particularly clever on the attack. For a good part of the game Summers was seen to advantage for Bradford City, and he saw to it that the oppurtunist Hallows had plenty of the ball. Cairns and Moore also lent valuable assistance on the attack in the early stages, but once the home men got on an equality, Bradford City fell away. Copping played a big part in Leeds United's first goal, deceiving Stevenson, and taking the ball well into the visitors' quarters before parting to Keetley, who beat Gill at the end of seven minutes. City then took command and before the interval they had put on three goals without further reply from their opponents. In their first effort Potts misjudged a centre from Scriven, and Menzies cleared from the goal line, but the ball went to Moore whose shot was deflected into the net by Potts, who was later beaten by Bauld. Hallows then headed a centre from Scriven past the home keeper. On the resumption United soon wiped out a goal of their arrears. Green beating the ball to the dead ball line, and sending back, for Keetley to beat Gill. Furness got the equaliser, and after the visiting goalkeeper had saved at close range from Keetley, Cochrane scored from the rebound. Near the end Keetley put on a fourth (sic s/b fifth) goal for the home team, who had lost the services of Milburn seven minutes from time.
